The Truth Is Between Us

A friend recently argued that Universal Truth does not exist
because Reality is something within each of us and is basically
the same thing as Individual Perception. I agree with him that
we each have our own perception of a situation and therefore
generate our own Individual Reality through our senses. I also
agree that this Individual Reality, in turn, begets an
Individual Truth. However the existence of an Individual Truth
does not preclude the existence of a Universal Truth.

I contend there is a Universal Truth which exists outside of
every Individual. It is a meeting point of all Individual
Perceptions, or a nexus of Individual Realities. This Universal
Truth is not perceivable by Individuals (because I cannot see
things from every person's perspective), and therefore
Individuals can never perceive Universal Truth. An Individual
may only improve their understanding of Universal Truth by
learning the Individual Perception of Others through communica-
-tion and empathy. By expanding the Individual Perception to
include Others, the Individual steps ever so slightly closer
toward a Universal Perception (omniscience), or Universal Truth.
If the Divine exists, it would be able to see the world from
every Individual Perspective. The Divine would both perceive
and embody Universal Truth.

Therefore communication and empathy with Others brings us
closer to God.
